ULAN (Irene Villamor, 2019)

I adored the (commendable) bits of magical realism steeped in Pinoy folklore. Sadly, the rest of it was a confused, tropes-filled mess with a very questionable central message.

  1. Hello! Ano ‘yung nakita mong questionable central message? Ang nabasa ko kasi sa ibang reviews tungkol daw sa self-love chuchu — ‘yun ba? Curious lang, hehe.

    1. Hi Jolens! I didn’t have an issue with the self-love message, but without spoiling anything, my problem was that the ending made it seem like nothing else mattered as long as you love yourself. Medyo problematic (and extremely selfish) to me hehe.
