KUYA WES (James Mayo, 2018)

Beauty as power, loneliness as a weakness, the underlying sadness of being underappreciated, the constant struggles of the working class. I really wish the movie was able to explore these further, especially with more developed characters. Overall, a fine effort with some really good perfomances.

I liked Ogie Alcasid in the titular role, even if his delivery oddly reminded me of his Angelina character in Bubble Gang. Ina Raymundo was an effective villain slash uber user. Bwiset na bwiset ako sa kanya. And can the wonderful Moi Bien always be part of this annual festival?

Lakas ng tawa ko sa eyebrows gag. Not a fan of the shaky cam, but that chilling scene that ended with a breaking the fourth wall moment was unexpected and powerful.
