The only good thing about this movie was that it wasn’t Twilight. I expected more from the director of Gattaca and writer of The Truman Show.
It was just beyond awful. The clunky storytelling made everything unintentionally funny. No wonder it bombed in the US. Poor Saoirse Ronan.
The endless voiceovers that probably worked on paper failed to translate on film. At least the movie made me want to read the book.
I’m very curious to know what my Theology professor has to say about this soul transference thing. Now that would be interesting.

More than Battle Royale, this movie reminded me so much of The Truman Show. The latter was a brilliant satire on the entertainment industry and reality show voyeurism.
This movie had the chance to achieve the same heights, but decided to play it safe (what happened to the actual games?). I wouldn’t even compare it to the book since they’re two different visions. I’d encourage everyone to go pick up the novel.
Jennifer Lawrence wasn’t my first choice as Katniss and she sure had me converted. I loved the supporting cast, especially Elizabeth Banks and Stanley Tucci.
Overall, it was a fine enough piece of entertainment.

It was fascinating to hear all the fictional films (The Truman Show, Jerry Maguire, Fight Club, Life of Brian, Spectre) referenced by the lead Flat Earther.
That ending was just oh so brutal! Ina Reformina wouldn’t like this at all.
